FBLBloggers Challenge

The lovely people over at @FBLBloggers have organised a monthly blogger challenge with a different theme every month. This months theme is Nautical. The idea of the challenge is to allow all types of bloggers i.e beauty, fashion and lifestyle to express themselves in their own particular genre.

I chose to base my nautical theme on nail art, easy right...yeah I thought so too.lol

I battled for 3 hours applying and reapplying different designs till I finally found ones I was happy with, until I applied the top coat which spread the blue nail polish all over the gold (face-palm).

I used Royal Blue, Red and Gold nail polish plus white and blue acrylic paint.

The tools I used was a stripper brush and doting tool.

Look out for future FBLBlogger challenges and themes.

Oh My Days...

...seriously think the heat had got to the staff at my local George by Asda today as I managed to bag myself some seriously ridiculously cheap bargains.

Now I'm not sure what the original price of these camouflage kitten heel shoes were as they had no tags on but I image they probably retailed at £12 but I didn't care at all as I picked them up for just £1.
That's right I did just say £1!!!

My second bargain was this denim jacket .Ive been wanting a denim jacket for a while now and today just fell perfect as I bagged this one for £2 reduced from £18. Get in me!!!

All in all that is a possible saving of £27 for just the 2 items.

I also managed to pick up a top and a dress for my daughter saving a total of £9.50 on the 2 items.I don't think I've ever got bargains this good, 4 items for £7.50.

I can say hand on heart today has probably been the best day I've had in a long time....saving money always makes me smile!!

things i love - Adobe Photoshop Elements first attempt

I have always wanted to find out how to put together a photo collage but didn't have a clue where to start, what programme to use etc.

So I found a truly fab tutorial on google, a beautiful mess a blog by Elsie + Emma using the Adobe Photoshop Elements programme. Ive used the full version of photoshop before and this probably the simplest version i have used so far, yes it takes time to get your head around certain steps but its definitely usable.

It took me about 2 hours to pull this together all in all, and that included walking away for a cup of tea as my brain was hurting.

Yes, I know its no where as cool and pin point sharp as the tutorial , but for my first attempt I'm actually quite happy with the results.....Just need practise, patience and a heap load of time.

I'm hoping this will become a regular slot on my blog, time allowing of course.

...things i love links...

One. Skull Planter

Two. Vintage Orange Teacup With Saucer

Three. Grey and Beige IKat Pillow Cover

What do you think of my first attempt??

Flipping heck...

So to say I've had a bad day is a major understatement. My little boy has been a pain all day and night, just when I think it can't get any worse my camera goes and dies on me.

Not happy. Not happy at all....

This disaster leaves me in a rubbish position...back to camera phone pictures until funds become available to buy a new one.

NOTD - Stippled Effect

Here is my NOTD for today.
As per usual when I did my nails, the design happened purely by accident.

I chose Maybelline Blackout as a base, then I was going to do Essie No Place Like Chrome fade as an accent nail but it went horribly wrong, so I ended up sponging the 2 colours over each other layering them randomly ending up with a Stippled effect (?) lol. Not very technical I know!

I finished my look with H & M Silver Frost on the accent nail.

I must say I'm really pleased with my repair job, and not ashamed to admit my mistakes as I still have a long way to go regarding my knowledge and patience when it comes to nail art.
Will definitely be trying this design again, maybe experiment with different colour ways.

Have you had any nail disasters??

Birthday Nail Treats

Well another year older and probably not any more wiser, but I was lucky to be treated to some lovely nail products for my birthday.

Some wished for and some came as a nice surprise.

Here is a quick run down on what I got...

Nails Inc Express Nail Polish Remover Pot and Corrector Pen.

I will be buying these myself when they run out as they make removing polish quick and easy.
The corrector pen is fab to use with the angled nib making clean up a pleasure not a chore. Plus it comes with 3 extra double ended nibs so should last a while.

Technic Nail Polishes
From left to right
Siona Island, Mad Alice & Bedazzled

Avon Nailwear Pro+
Artic Waters

Maybelline Colourshow
Blackout

This polish was on my wish list, and I'm not disappointed.
So glossy without a topcoat and covers well with 2 coats.

Definitely feeling a lucky girl this year.

I Broke My Essie Virginity

Essie is one brand I have longed for from afar, but never seriously considered spending what pennies I do have on as I have always considered it to be over my budget.

Until I found a clearance store, The Original Factory Shop selling last seasons Essie Nail Polish.

The Original Factory Shop was established in 1969. They are one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK with over 180 stores across the country!

They offer a wide variety of goods for all ages and genders including clothing, footwear, cosmetics and fragrance, fashion accessories, electrical goods, housewares, home furnishings and toys.

I picked up No Place Like Chrome, which is a flat metallic silver and Good As Gold which is a flat metallic gold. Both of these polishes coat my nails in just 1 coat. Plus with a flat wide brush, application is smooth and easy.

These 2 nail polishes are rapidly becoming my go to colours at the moment.

Each of these bottles of Essie Nail polish cost £3, saving me around £5 per bottle to what I had seen on Internet stores.
I will definitely be returning back to The Original Factory Shop to pick up a few more bottles for a very good price.

Primark Goodies

Hello All,

Well the suns still shining and I'm feeling happy. Even more so after having these two beauties gifted to me.

Distressed charm ring - crystal, jade triangle & feather charms

Distressed large cross earrings

Both of these pieces of jewellery are from Primark. I particularly love the charm ring. The fit is very good, even though its a large I was slightly apprehensive it would be to small. It has been a pleasure to wear as I didn't notice I had it on at all.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

The Wayfarer Effect

Well the summer has finally decided to show its face at long last and isn't it gorgeous.

So it's time to choose the right eye wear for this season, as with every summer there are plenty of lovely styles available, we are spoilt for choice as per usual.

This year I chose to go with the classic but simple Wayfarer sun glasses.

I purchased my pair of Wayfarers from my first go to place eBay, where you can find every colour way and pattern imaginable.

I went with a simple white and clear frame that would go with all of my outfits.

I love them, they are so comfortable stylish and most of all cheap. I paid £4.99 with free p & p.

NOTD - Nail Dress Stickers

It's been a long time since my last NOTD post due to extreme nail health issues but they are on the mend finally, so please be patient with me.

After the long awaited delivery of the new fabulous Nail It magazine, I thought I would have a little experiment with the nail stickers that came free inside from Kiss called Nail Dress.

I chose a black and silver flower sticker called Bustier, which I thought was really pretty and chose to do the rest of my nails in the black and silver theme to match.

I used silver, black and pearl gems on my index finger, a simple leopard print design on my ring finger and black varnish with silver glitter on my little finger.

The nail stickers were really easy to apply with no fuss and are guaranteed to last up to 10 days.

Thank you for reading.

H & M Nail Polish

I regularly shop at H & M but I have never brought any of their nail polishes.

I thought it was about time I did, I have used a few pieces from their make up range and was impressed with the cost and quality of the items so I had high expectations.

I brought 3 nail polishes from within their range which were - Stay Golden, Silver Frost and Je T'aime.

Stay Golden and Silver Frost were a purchase I have been looking to make for some time as I have been looking for some chunky glitter polishes for a while.
Both have loose glitter in a clear polish with hexagonal glitter flecks included.

Je T'aime was a random purchase as I found the colour so pretty. It is a apple red colour saturated with tiny golden particles. The sparkle of the gold when the sunlight hits it is amazing.

Overall I am very impressed with the quality of all the polishes and up to now seem to be hard wearing and quite chip resistant. Prices vary from bottle to bottle the silver glitter was £1.99, the gold glitter was £2.99 and the red was £1.50.
3 bottles of polish for £6.48 that will without a doubt get used on a regular basis isn't bad at all.

I will definitely be purchasing more of the H & M polishes as there are a few I ummed and ahhhed about but put them back, now I wished I hadn't...lol

Have you got any H & M polishes you love?? Feel free to recommend them!!

Whats In Your Pocket - Blogger Challenge

Imagine my surprise when I checked my email to find a unexpected invitation from Money Supermarket to take part in their latest blogger challenge.

The idea behind Whats In Your Pocket is for people to celebrate life's little wins by finding money you forgot you had.

If you are a blogger or just a reader of blogs you may have seen pieces about this already.

Money supermarket chose a select number of bloggers to take part in this challenge and I was lucky enough to be selected.

So what did this challenge entail??

Money supermarket gave me £20 to do with as I wished.
The only catch was to blog about what I did with the money. All entries received would be in with the chance to win a prize of £200.

Simple........or so I thought!!!

The hard part was deciding what to do with the money. The choices were endless. Did I simply spend it on myself, treat my family, save it or give it to charity.

After much pondering there was only one answer, I would treat someone.

That someone is my dear friend Natalie as there is nothing she wouldn't do to make me happy.
So its about time I returned the favour.

The timing of this challenge is almost heaven sent as Natalie has recently given birth to little Gracie Olivia and the last person to be treated after a birth is the mother.Plus with the cost of raising a family, money is tight.

Gracie Olivia

One thing I know without a shadow of a doubt is that new moms often feel tired, washed out, a little lost and dare I say it frumpy!! lol. Been there, done it twice!

Many many time we have spoken about Natalie wanting to try new things with her appearance and beauty routine. Which gave me the perfect opportunity to lend a helping hand and treat her to something. To get her on her own adventure of becoming Natalie again and not just Mommy.

I got a nice balance with my gifts, with elements of relaxation and pampering.Absolutely perfect for the "me" time a new mom desperately craves.

Now for the simple bit....spending the money.

Dove Mini Pampering Kit

Rimmel Kajal Eye Liner Pencil - Jet Black
Collection Mosaic Glow Bronzer
Collection Smokey Eyes Pallet
Collection Volume Sensations Lipstick - Satin Bow

In total I spent £20.04, this also included a gift bag.

Natalie opening her gifts

Once all the gifts were opened it was time for a pamper.....as all girls do!!!

Natalie after a pamper session....yummy mummy??
Definitely!!

I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in my first official blogger challenge and it definitely gave me the feel good factor.

NOTD - Marbling

This NOTD was done a few weeks ago but due to time issues I just haven't been able to put it on my blog.

It was my first attempt at the Water Marbling technique and I was pretty pleased with the finished look.

I used Models Own Mushroom and Snow White.

The dots I applied with a doting tool.

For the accent nail I used Models Own Mushroom again with Black Gems applied from my cuticle in a line.

Simple but effective.

Graze Health Kick

As part of my New Years resolutions I have put myself on a diet and set myself some goals.

One of those goals was to sign up to graze and start getting their healthy snack boxes sent direct to my door as i am such a junk lover.

I have heard alot about them through blogger and the press so I didn't think I could fail this goal.

Guess what??? They are fab, so fab in fact my other half signed himself up for them too...lol

The boxes are so cute and quirky, all biodegradable and recyclable, plus lots of fun to have pushed through your letter box.

As I signed up with a code I came across on Twitter, I received a fantastic offer of my 1st and 5th boxes being free.

The fantastic thing about graze is that you can pick and choose the items you wish to receive or bin the things you are not so keen on (wish i knew that first!!), and I'm really fussy so that is a big fat bonus.

When my box arrived everything looked delicious although slightly not to my taste....

The slightly sweet popcorn was really good fun as you pop it yourself in the microwave and that was something I had never done before.

The apple cosmo was off my list unfortunately as I don't like dried fruit which contained lime infused raisins, cranberries and apple, although my little boy enjoyed tucking into that one.

The tomato dipintti was stolen off me by my other half, cheeky beggar so that is going on the send soon list as I missed out on a taste of that.

My absolute favourite was the honeycomb flapjack, 3 small morsel's of heaven.
If i could just have 4 of those every time I would be more than happy...lol

sorry picture is poor.taken whilst in a chocolate frenzy..lol

The best thing about graze boxes is the price.
Just £3.98 a box that includes P&P which is just great!!

If you haven't given graze boxes a trail run, I definitely recommend you do.

One thing I do know is you wont regrett it.
